Braniff Airlines’ high-fashion uniforms
Air travel may be a part of everyday life today, but it was once only available to a privileged few. During the 1960s, for example, airlines spent significant funds on turning their planes into proper luxury transportation. Check out what Braniff Airlines did in 1965.
They hired no other than Emilio Pucci, who was already an icon, to design the flight attendants’ uniforms. The outfits included matching tights, dresses, booties, and a space-age astronaut’s helmet that would keep the ladies’ hairdos from being ruined by the wind.
