Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong became the heroes for an entire generation when they took those first steps on the moon’s surface in 1969. But landing a spot on a space mission takes work. Not many have the physical conditions necessary to do the job; among those who do, only the most brilliant and committed individuals are chosen. Recently, the Artemis program began planning to take humans back to the moon in 2024. Only the most qualified astronauts were chosen, and here are a few of the fantastic people who made the list.

This is Kate Rubins, and she is no stranger to outer space. She participated in two expeditions to the International Space Station, and the second one is still ongoing, meaning that she is currently out in space! Moreover, her achievements on Earth are also impressive.
Rubins is an expert in viral diseases, having done pioneering research on HIV, smallpox, and other viruses like those that cause Ebola, Marburg, and Lassa Fever. How did she manage to become successful both on land and in outer space?
