Find Out What Happens To The Human Body In Space

Sending humans to space is not an easy task. This might sound obvious, but there are many elements you may never have thought about before. Down here on Earth, we are used to a certain pressure, temperature, and gravity, all of which play a fundamental role in keeping us alive, but in space, all that is different. For example, did you know that UV rays are much more damaging when you’re outside the protection of the ozone layer? There’s a scene in Shrek where he grabs a frog and a snake and blows them up to make balloons for himself and Fiona. Romantic, right? Well, if you were to go into space without any protective gear, you would suffer the same fate as the reptiles.

That’s because the lack of atmospheric pressure outside the Earth would cause the water inside our bodies to expand and turn into vapor. This, in turn, would cause our entire bodies to swell up to twice their standard size. Imagine how painful it would be.
