We have previously stated that black holes love gobbling up anything in their path. Planets? No problem. Galaxies? Gone in a minute. Evidence shows that they can even swallow up neutron stars, one of the universe’s densest objects.
A collision between such giants wouldn’t pass unnoticed since it would send ripples across the universe. Researchers finally got evidence of one such event in 2020. They believe that the star crashed into a black hole and was swallowed about a billion years ago.
