Black holes are supposed to swallow everything, so it wouldn’t make sense for light to escape out the back of one, right? Einstein thought differently. You see, he proposed that although light couldn’t travel through it, it could travel around it.
Since black holes are heavy enough to distort space and time, it can look as though the light is coming through it when it is going around it. It was only in July 2021 that astronomers from Stanford University proved that Einstein correct.
